EmojiSelector is an independent emoji reference. We don't stop at what Unicode says an emoji means — we track how people actually use them across social media, messaging apps, and digital culture.
Our Methodology
- We cross-reference Unicode CLDR data with real social-media usage patterns to capture contextual meaning.
- Every emoji page is reviewed for cultural nuance — meanings differ by region, age group, and platform.
- Data is updated with each new Unicode release (currently 17.0).
- Blog and comparison content is written by our editorial team, with technical claims traced back to Unicode sources.
Why We Built This
Most emoji guides are copy-paste reference lists. We wanted something deeper: a resource that explains why an emoji means what it means, how that meaning has shifted over time, and how to use it correctly for different audiences.
Who Writes This?
Our content is produced by a small editorial team and published under a single organizational byline. Technical facts (codepoints, versions, names) come straight from Unicode Consortium and CLDR data; meaning and usage commentary is our editorial reading of how emojis are publicly used on each platform. We do not present research we have not done as our own data.
